Now widely known for the hugely successful Des Bishop Work Experience on RTE, Des has been one of Irelands most outspoken Stand up comedians for more than 6 years. As organizer and resident MC of the International Comedy Club he developed a quite biting style of observational comedy, mostly critical of his adopted home and the America he left behind. His show “Comical Warfare” was performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2002. It showcased this critical energy and was rewarded by receiving the 2002 Tap Water award is association with an organization protesting against the Perrier Award.

Previously Des was known to viewers in Ireland for his appearances in X-it File and as team captain on Don’t feed The Gondolas (RTE), Other TV credits include The Empire Laughs Back (BBC 2), The Lounge (Network 2) and the ever-popular chat show RTE’s The Late Late Show.

Des has also become a familiar voice on radio including RTE 1's Liveline and as a regular guest on 98 FM's The After Dark Show and The Talk of Dublin, while in Cork he recently guest hosted The Red Rooster on Red FM.

His rap and comic brilliance were first seen on the stage in Rap Eire, which he co-wrote with Arthur Riordan and he was most recently featured in Jim Sheridan’s hugely successful film In America.

Unquestionably one of the most gifted comedians to emerge in recent years, he has just released his first DVD, Des Bishop Live At Vicar Street, an hour of blistering stand-up which illustrates why he is one of Ireland’s most gifted comedians.
